3 Cleveland Browns alternatives at quarterback if Deshaun Watson deal fizzles

Cleveland Browns Backup Quarterback Plan No. 3 – DerekCarr
At the end of the 2021 season, there was a lot of speculation that Derek Carr could easily be traded. He was going into the last year of a team-friendly contract and was a real in-between guy. Carr has led the Raiders to a few good seasons and made the playoffs last year, but no one really takes them seriously as a Super Bowl contender.
I still think the Cleveland Browns will attempt to see if he’s available, but with Josh McDaniels as the new head coach, I’m not sure if there is any interest in trading him anymore.
If Watson does fall through for the Browns, there aren’t a ton of other great options available, and there are still a lot of teams that are in need of a quarterback. Berry typically doesn’t make foolish moves, but you could see him overpay for a guy like Carr if the Raiders are willing to deal him.
Carr is the best fit of any quarterback in my opinion. Watson has more talent and is a pure passer, but Carr thrives on play-action and still has the mobility to get outside the pocket and make the difficult throws.
Just because we haven’t heard anything yet doesn’t mean he isn’t available, but I think it would cost a fortune to get Carr in a trade right now.
