Cleveland Browns Post Watson Move No. 1 – Re-sign Jadeveon Clowney

At first, it appeared the Cleveland Browns may struggle to retain Jadeveon Clowney after he outperformed his one-year deal with the team in 2021. But now that they have Deshaun Watson, I feel it’s more and more likely that he returns.

Yes, guys like Za’Darius Smith, Melvin Ingram, and Jerry Huges are still on the market and would be a cheaper option, but none are as dominant as Clowney. Bringing him back could result in the release of a guy like Kareem Hunt, but would make this team so much better.

It was reported that the Browns offered Clowney a two-year, $24 million contract. It’s unclear how much is guaranteed, but that seems like a very fair offer. He could likely get more money from another team, but the Browns really are a great fit.

Remember, in the last two seasons where Clowney was the no. one pass rush option, he struggled. It wasn’t just in Seattle; things didn’t go as planned in Tennessee either.

Being paired alongside Myles Garrett can’t be overlooked. He takes a ton of attention and gives Clowney space to create matchup nightmares.

Next. Both cheers and jeers to Deshaun Watson reportedly becoming a Brown. dark

In a league where the quarterback is the most important position, pass rush is arguable the second most.  For this defense to have a chance at being elite, re-signing Clowney is imperative.
