Baker Mayfield trade proposal No. 3

Detroit Lions Receive:

  • Baker Mayfield, QB
  • Cleveland Browns 2022 round four pick

Cleveland Browns Receive:

  • Jason Cabinda, FB
  • Agree to take on 25 percent of Mayfield’s Salary

Trust me, I know that the Detroit Lions have Jared Goff on the roster, but I think it’s become very apparent that he was an average quarterback in a superior system in L.A., and that he doesn’t have what it takes to drag a lousy team on his back.

A trade with the Lions makes no sense, but with John Dorsey now in the front office, he may not be able to help himself if he can get Mayfield for what he feels like is a deal.

In this scenario, the Browns are basically just getting rid of him from the locker room. This deal would save the Browns over $14 million but would cost them a valuable pick that they will need in the future.

Cap space isn’t a huge concern at the moment but starting next year things get tighter and tighter with the major dollars headed towards Deshaun Watson.

I truly don’t see a scenario where this is plausible, but I have witnessed Dorsey make crazier moves for the Browns. He really has no regard for cap space and will likely be willing to take a gamble to find his next quarterback.

Sending Mayfield to the NFL would be a major win for the Browns as well.
