Cleveland Browns late-round target number 2- Bo Melton, wide receiver, Rutgers

The Browns added Amari Cooper and are likely to take a day two wide receiver but if they — wait or want a second rookie in this class — Rutgers Bo Melton makes a lot of sense. It has been said a ton of times the Cleveland Browns have got to challenge teams deep and that is exactly what Melton does.

Melton showed up to the NFL combine at 5-foot-11 189 pounds and showed elite speed with a 4.34 40-yard dash. Melton is an explosive play waiting to happen when you watch him on film, he has the kind of speed to truly just run away from opposing defenses.

Rutgers used Melton in jet sweeps, short passes that he turned the jets on, and on go routes showing that his speed can be used in a variety of ways.

He isn’t just a speed guy though, at the combine he had a 38-inch vertical jump which you can clearly see on film. Melton wins a lot of contested catch opportunities he isn’t the biggest receiver but his athleticism flashes with his ability to go up and get the ball. Melton still needs to work on his route running but with the raw potential is worth a late-round flier.
