NFL quarterback No. 31 – Drew Lock, Seattle Seahawks

After being picked in round two by the Denver Broncos in 2019, I don’t think Drew Lock was thought of as a sure-fire NFL starting quarterback. He certainly has the arm to make it, but he has struggled in his prior three seasons with the Broncos.

With an 8-13 record and heading to a Seattle team that appears to be in a complete rebuild mode, I don’t see things getting any better for him next season. Remember, Lock has struggled to stay healthy, and the Seahawks weren’t able to protect an athletic Russell Wilson the last few seasons.

Seattle will have pick no. nine in the 2022 NFL draft, but I don’t expect them to go quarterback with such a weak class unless everyone before them passes. A trade with the Browns of some sort that lands them with Baker Mayfield seems like the most plausible scenario currently.

NFL quarterback No. 30 – Daniel Jones, New York Giants

The New York Giants are also in an interesting situation. Daniel Jones who was the former No. 6 overall pick in 2019 has not lived up to expectations, but I’m not sure he has been given a fair chance either. He’s a guy that reminds me of a Brady Quinn — has some talent but was just put in a bad situation to have a chance of succeeding.

In three seasons he has gone 12-25 as the starter with 45 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. With a big decision on the fifth-year option of his rookie agreement, I don’t expect the Giants to give him another year as the starter.

With pick No. 5 in the 2022 draft, they certainly could be in the market for a quarterback, but again, with a weak draft class, they may not be sold on anyone and go another season with Jones to get a look.
