Why Cleveland Browns should target wide receiver at 44

The Browns have already added a number one receiver this offseason when they traded for Amari Cooper of the Dallas Cowboys. However, that room was so lacking in playmakers that far more than one addition needed to be made this offseason. This draft has a ton of great and dynamic wide receivers to be had.

There are several tiers to the players in this draft and if you wait to not take one at 44 you may risk a guy not being quite to the level of what you need. If a certain player or two falls to you at the position that you like the Browns should jump and try to take this new offense to a greater level.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver fits at 44

There are more than a couple of players that make sense for the Browns here but my top three if they are there are George Pickens (Georgia), Skyy Moore (Western Michigan), and Christian Watson (North Dakota State).

Pickens probably makes the most sense, he has a great athletic profile, great size, and speed combo, and is still only 21 years old. He had some injury concerns at Georgia but he is a well-rounded player that blocks well and can get vertical with great hands.

Skyy Moore is simply a player that crushes press-man coverage, something that has given the Browns fits for years. He knows how to use his speed and has incredibly reliable hands, he gets good separation and is a homerun threat after the catch.

Christian Watson is an older prospect for what Andrew Berry usually does early in the draft but if there was ever a guy to make an exception for it’s Watson. You do not see players with Watson’s size who are able to run sub 4.4 40-yard dashes very often.

He is exactly the kind of athletic freak that could develop into a great wide receiver.
