Cleveland Browns 2022 Draft Grades – Good

After going through a few of the unknown and bad draft picks of the 2022 draft, let’s move on to some of the positives. And while I feel like there are certainly some question marks, there is a lot to be excited about for the 2022 Cleveland Browns.

Cade York, Kicker, LSU

I hate to get excited about a kicker, but the Cleveland Browns haven’t had a great one since Phil Dawson left years ago. Not only is the kid from LSU, Cade York, accurate, but he also has a boot as well. He has not only made multiple clutch kicks, but many of them have also been from a long distance.

I just want a season where I’m not holding my breath on the team converting the extra point, and I think York brings that for 2022.

Perrion Winfrey, Defensive Tackle, Oklahoma

When the Browns drafted Perrion Winfrey, they drafted perhaps the highest motor guy in the entire draft. Not only does this guy have talent, but he is also going to give you his all on every single snap. Fans have instantly fallen in love with him, and I see him making a big impact on the 2022 season.

Do remember, Winfrey’s game is similar to Jordan Phillips and Tommy Togiai, meaning one of these two guys could be in jeopardy of not making the roster in 2022.

Dawson Deaton, Interior Offensive Line, Texas Tech

I know this guy was just a seventh-round pick, but I love his upside. With a solid set of starters already in place for the 2022 season, Dawson Deaton will be in a position to set back and learn for at least a year and possibly more.

He will be great depth if needed but will have the proper time to develop without being rushed on the field.

Alex Wright, Defensive End, UAB

Perhaps my favorite pick of the draft was Alex Wright, the monster defensive end from UAB. He’s a raw talent who still has a ton to learn but can likely be a pass-rushing specialist as a rookie. He has the speed and flexibility to give any offensive tackle in the NFL trouble.

It may be a few seasons before he can develop into an every-down player, but expect a few huge plays to be made by Wright in year one.
