Cleveland Browns Bubble Player No. 4: Curtis Weaver

Defensive end Curtis Weaver is in a very similar position to the aforementioned Forbes. Weaver who has been with the team for the past two seasons in some form or fashion. The Browns claimed Weaver off of waivers after the Miami Dolphins placed him on the injured reserve list. Consequently, Weaver spent the entirety of his rookie season on the IR.

Going into his second season, Weaver was getting a ton of buzz by the media for how the Boise State product transformed his body. However, the body transformation did not lead to any significant playing time and Weaver spent the majority of 2021 on the practice squad. Weaver dressed for one game and did not accrue any stats.

The Browns have overhauled the defensive line as a whole, and now Weaver has significantly more competition at defensive end. Prior to the draft the Browns signed Stephon Weatherly and Isaac Rochelle. Then the Browns drafted Alex Wright in the third round and Isaiah Thomas in the seventh round.

There is also the ever present elephant in the room that is the quasi-expected signing of Jadeveon Clowney sometime later in the summer. Unless Weaver is able to summons the ghost of Reggie White, it is highly unlikely that he makes this roster. Weaver is a practice squad candidate at best, but I would not place any bets on it.
