Cleveland Browns Free Agent pick up No. 1 – Jadeveon Clowney

I think fans at this point continue to just push the Jadeveon Clowney singing into existence, and who can blame them? In one year with the Cleveland Browns, Clowney was extremely disruptive and provided the secondary boost behind Myles Garrett that this team needed.

Right now, with Garrett and Chase Winovich at defensive end, it is one of the weakest groups on the roster. But as soon as you are able to sing a guy like Clowney it instantly becomes a position of strength. Clowney has struggled to be the number one pass rush option but continues to prove he is an elite number two.

It must be frustrating for Berry to sit back without a contract signed, but this has been Clowney’s motive the last few seasons. It never seems to yield him any more money, but maybe he just hates offseason workouts that much?

I know most Browns fans have their heart set on Clowney but don’t panic, there are still other solid options available if things don’t pan out. I think the Browns are hopeful to get a two- or three-year deal done, and Clowney may still want to keep things at one year in length.

At the end of the day it could end up being a guy like Jerry Hughes or Melvin Ingram brought in at defensive end, but there will no doubt be some additional depth brought in before the start of the season.
