Cleveland Browns player with something to prove No. 2 – Donovan Peoples-Jones

Heading into the 2021 season, all we heard about was how good Donovan Peoples-Jones (DPJ) looked in camp for the Cleveland Browns. The rumors were that he and Mayfield had developed nice chemistry and he was looking to be a legitimate number two receiver.

After dominating in the preseason at times, DPJ was less than stellar during the regular season. In 14 games of action, he had 34 catches for 597 yards and three touchdowns. And while he was the best receiver on the roster, that isn’t saying much.

It appears the Browns are set to head into the season with him as the No. 2 option again, the pressure will be huge to more production. I believe with having a true No. 1 in Amari Cooper and a better quarterback in Watson throwing him the ball, you could see a breakout year for DPJ.

While the pressure is there, remember, this is a guy who was drafted in round six after being a five-star athlete coming out of high school. The talent is certainly there, now he just must put it all together.

If we see another season of dropped passes and a few lingering injuries, DPJ could drag this entire offense down by himself.
