Cleveland Browns Veteran Free Agent Target No. 2 – Julio Jones, WR

A name we haven’t heard much from but makes too much sense for the Cleveland Browns is veteran wide receiver, Julio Jones. When he was first released by the Tennessee Titans, I thought his asking price would be too high, but the longer and longer this plays out the more of a possibility he is to come to Cleveland.

I know many haven’t forgotten, but this is a guy who led the league in receiving in 2015 and 2018 and had nearly 1,400 yards in 2019. Unfortunately, injuries have kept him off the field the last two years and things just never really clicked for him in Tennessee.

I’m not sure the quarterback situation was the best for Jones who was used to Matt Ryan that has the ability to throw the ball all over the field. I think the Browns having Deshaun Watson who is known for similar things would only help land the veteran pass-catcher.

Last but not least, the Browns could take some workload off Jones who has been the number one guy and workhorse for 10 years. If he was willing to take less money and sign a one-year deal with the Browns, he could be the number two or three option and not have to play near the snap count he has in the past.

Indeed, being past his prime, I’m just not sure if Jones is ready for a one-year, veteran minimum type deal. Bringing in a guy like Jones could cut the Anthony Schwartz project short which wouldn’t break my heart in the slightest.
