Cleveland Browns Rumored Free Agent No. 1 – Jadevon Clowney, Edge

At this point, I think everyone knows the Cleveland Browns want to bring back Jadeveon Clowney, but no one seems to know what he wants to do.

Rumors are that he doesn’t enjoy training camp, and I’m starting to believe that because he is constantly one of the last guys to sign. I’m all for bringing him back, but the Browns are getting to a point where they need an answer.

With Melvin Ingram, and Jerry Hughes now both off the free agency market, Clowney becomes even more important to bring back. It’s certainly a luxury to have a guy like Clowney paired with Myles Garrett, but it’s one position on the defense that can make a huge difference in improving the entire unit.

I still don’t understand this strategy by Clowney.

For the last three seasons he has held out on signing a deal, and it has got him absolutely nothing in return. It sounds like the Browns are interested in a two or three-year extension, and Clowney is still interested in his one-year deal.

Remember, the sentencing is all but out on Clowney. He is an extremely productive player when he isn’t the number one option, but has struggled to produce when he is number one. He is still working on his credibility after small stints with the Seahawks and Titans.

Cleveland has the money and wants to sign Clowney, I see a one-year deal being inevitable.
