Notable Cleveland Browns 2022 Schedule Observation No. 1

The bye week comes at a great time

We talked earlier about how the Browns got a weaker-caliber opponent for a month to start the season and again in the final three weeks, but what we have yet to discuss is the brutal 10-game stretch sandwiched in between and why the bye week comes at a crucial point of the season.

After the first four weeks of the season, the Browns host the Chargers and Patriots before going to Baltimore a week ahead of the Halloween night showdown with the Bengals at home. That is an extremely tough stretch with two division games in back-to-back weeks. If the Browns are 4-0 or 3-1 after the first month of the season, the team needs to go 2-2 in this four-game stretch ahead of the Week 9 bye.

The Browns, as of this very moment, could find themselves sitting 6-2 or 5-3 when the bye week rolls around, which would be a great position to be in. Once the team returns to the field, they will take that trip to Miami, which could be a trap game coming off the bye due to the travel and extracurricular activities South Beach has to offer.

After that trip, the Browns travel to Buffalo for a date with Josh Allen and the Bills, who are one of the upper-echelon teams in the AFC, before hosting the greatest to ever do it, Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Allen and Brady in back-to-back weeks is not ideal.

The Browns will then be on the road for the next two traveling to Houston and then Cincinnati before playing host to the Ravens. The Houston game is very winnable, but the two divisional games in back-to-back weeks again can be a toss-up.

With the bye week coming nearly smack-dab in the middle of the season, that bodes well for the Browns. No matter what their record is after the first eight weeks, the team can reevaluate what needs to be worked on while honing in on what has proven to be successful to that point.
