Toughest quarterback Cleveland Browns will face in 2022 No. 4:

Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals – Week 8 and Week 14

Well, Browns fans, get ready to see Joe Burrow multiple times per year for at least the next decade. The Cincinnati Bengals signal-caller is poised to have a huge career and last year he helped lead the team to the Super Bowl. That’s something Cleveland can only dream of for right now but could change that in the years to come.

In 2021, Burrow came back from a torn ACL in his rookie campaign to throw for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. For as great of a stat line as that was, his offensive line did him no favors, giving up 51 (!) sacks. That is, umm, not ideal for a franchise quarterback.

While I am a heavy believer in the notion that wins are not a quarterback stat, Joe Burrow has yet to lead his team to victory over the Browns, going 0-3 in his brief career. Last year in Week 9, Cincinnati got blown out by Cleveland, 41-16, with Denzel Ward picking off Burrow and returning it 99-yards to the house. Moving forward, none of that matters as it cannot be changed, but it’s fun to discuss, to an extent.

Ward and the secondary will need to come prepared both times these two teams square off as Burrow has Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd, and Tee Higgins at his disposal. Granted, the Browns have fared well against them thus far, the three-headed monster will only get better.

The first encounter will see Burrow and company come to FirstEnergy Stadium for a Halloween night encounter on Monday Night Football. The Browns’ pass-rush and secondary will look to make things very spooky for Burrow and the Bengals. The next meeting will take place in Week 14 in Cincinnati. Both of these games should play a major part in deciding the AFC North.
