Cleveland Browns: 6 players who might not return in 2023
Cleveland Browns player who might not return in 2023 No. 1: Kareem Hunt – Running Back
If and when Kareem Hunt is no longer a Cleveland Brown, it will be a tough day for fans. Hunt is one of the players that this fanbase gravitates toward, especially when he is paired up with fellow running back, Nick Chubb.
The duo is the NFL’s best one-two combination and it’s really not even close, as long as the duo is on the field. Hunt missed nine games due to nagging injuries a season ago and Chubb missed three of his own. When the tandem is playing it normally spells trouble for opposing defenses, which is a good thing for the Browns.
There is an outside chance that Hunt doesn’t make it to the start of the season as a member of the Browns, but that would only be if Andrew Berry received an offer he couldn’t refuse. I’m leaning towards that not happening, but still, give it a slim possibility. I truly think that this team expects a big season for Hunt, who will benefit as a runner and pass-catcher with Watson under center.
The biggest thing that would prevent a reunion next season would be the money that could be on the table for Hunt. Right now, he is owed just over $6 million in 2022, a number that could surely go up next year. There would be a plethora of teams lined up to try and acquire the multifaceted Hunt as he could be a starter for a lot of teams, should he want that role.
It would be cool if Hunt and the Browns could cook up a nice team-friendly deal, but at the same time, I’d love to see Hunt get paid like a true No. 1 back.
