Reason No. 2 for Cleveland Browns fans to be optimistic this season: New players added to roster

We’ve already discussed the trade for Deshaun Watson, but the Browns also traded for new No. 1 wide receiver this offseason when they landed Amari Cooper in a deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

They also have brought in Jakeem Grant to be their new kick and punt returner — although he can be a weapon on offense as well — and brought in Chase Winovich from the New England Patriots to play defensive end and linebacker which should help them quite a bit.

Several newly drafted players should be able to help out immediately including defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, defensive end Alex Wright out of UAB, wide receiver David Bell from Purdue, and new placekicker Cade York from LSU.

These players could all be starters when the new season kicks off. York was a bit of a surprise being drafted in the middle rounds as Cleveland hasn’t drafted a kicker in some time. Hopefully, the kicking game will get a boost.

Bell could replace what former Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry was doing in playing in the slot on the line and catching passes to move the chains. He caught passes at Purdue at a high clip and should be a nice target for Watson to find in games.
