Cleveland Browns surprise impact player No. 2- Tommy Togiai, defensive tackle

The Browns desperately need players like Tommy Togiai to have impact seasons because of how weak the defensive tackle room appears. As it stands there isn’t a true run-stopping player with much experience in that room.

But where Togiai was his best at Ohio State was against the run, so that could be the perfect opportunity for him. Togiai player just over 120 snaps last season, it wasn’t anything to write home about but if he has added strength in the offseason he will be well-positioned in 2022.

At Ohio State, he was a player that anchored the middle of the line against the run, didn’t always make the play but didn’t give up ground. The Browns could use impact in the pass rush game, but they have players for that so there isn’t a lot of pressure on Togiai.

The Browns need him to be able to absorb blocks and force running backs to hesitate, while also keeping their athletic linebackers clean. Togiai doesn’t have to fill up the stat sheet to have an impact, the Browns’ interior was constantly pushed around last season. If Togiai can consistently clog lanes and make running difficult he could play a major role in the success of the defense in 2022.
