Cleveland Browns DT Target No. 2 – Sheldon Richardson

Another guy who was previously in Cleveland and had a ton of success was Sheldon Richardson. At the time the team decided to move on because they thought some younger guys were close to being ready and they wanted to save some cap space.

Unfortunately, Jordan Elliott and Tommy Togiai haven’t quite lived up to expectations. They have played okay at times, but neither has proven they deserve to be the starter in 2022. I think a veteran presence (even if overpaid) is exactly what this team needs at defensive tackle.

Richardson not only has comradery with much of the defense, but he also has a past with Kevin Stefanski in Minnesota and Cleveland. The only question will be, can they agree on a paycheck.

Part of the reason the Browns moved on was that Richardson would not renegotiate his deal. I’m not saying there is any bad blood, but there is also a chance that the Browns may not be on the top of his list, even though it’s a perfect fit.

At the end of the day, winning cures a lot.  Richardson knowing he may have a chance to be a big part of a winning organization could lead him back to Cleveland.
