Best Cleveland Browns pass-catcher No. 9: Brian Brennan

Biran Brennan was drafted by Cleveland in the 1984 NFL Draft out of Boston College. Brennan was the receiver on quarterback Doug Flutie Hail Mary throw that has become an iconic moment of Flutie’s stellar career when he played at Boston College, although Flutie is the one who gets remembered most for this play.

Brennan was another reliable receiver for the Browns, especially during a window of time in the team’s history when the team was challenging for championships each season.

Throughout his eight seasons in Cleveland, he gathered 315 catches for 4,148 yards and scored 19 touchdowns. His best season with the team was back in1986 when he caught 55 passes for 838 yards and scored six times.

He was Mr. Clutch too in a few postseason games as well. In a playoff game against the New York Jets in the 1986 season, Brennan caught four passes for 69 yards helping Cleveland to a win.

In the following game against the Denver Broncos, Brennan scored a 48-yard touchdown in the last minute of the game that seemed to secure a huge victory leading Cleveland to the AFC Championship Game. Sadly, that game got away from them and is still infamous to this day,  known as “The Drive” — which is one of the Broncos’ more iconic wins of all time.
