With Jarvis Landry out, the Browns are looking for a new slot receiver. They added Amari Cooper who will be the No. 1 target and Donovan Peoples-Jones should continue to grow as the second receiver. However, they need someone to do damage over the middle of the field the way Landry could.

There’s a strong belief that David Bell could end up earning that spot but it’s not his natural position — plus he’s started training camp on the PUP with a foot injury. While he’s been out, Mike Harley, Jr. has had a chance to shine.

While he might not be the fastest player, he runs incredible routes and has soft hands — capable of pulling in some tough passes.

As good as he’s been, he has some other talented players to beat out. The aforementioned Bell should return soon and Cleveland also has high hopes for second-year receiver Anthony Schwartz as well as Isaiah Weston, another undrafted free agent.

Cleveland will also likely use Jakeem Grant in the slot at times (and people are overlooking the fact that Amari Cooper can shine in this role as well), meaning there are several options ahead of Harley.

Should he be waived, the Browns would likely want him back on the practice squad but it also won’t be fun exposing him to the waiver wire.
