Overrated Player No. 3 – Jordan Elliott

The biggest question mark on the Cleveland Browns roster (behind quarterback) is currently defensive tackle. They have a ton of what I call average depth, but not one player who has produced at an extremely high level.

Coming into the season many expect Jordan Elliott to win the job as a starter, but I was not impressed with him in 2021 after he had a decent rookie year. Elliott is slightly undersized at 6-foot-4, 303 pounds, and it does show in the run game.

Too many times last year he would get upfield or get his shoulders turned and open a gaping hole in the middle of the line. The NFL has certainly moved towards a pass-heavy offense, but when you give four yards per carry up the middle, it’s difficult for your defense to get off the field.

I’m hopeful that Elliott has continued to improve into year three. If he is able to add some muscle and clean up his technique, I think he can be an NFL starter. But many believe that he and Taven Bryant will be fine at defensive tackle.

You could see a lot of big runs given up with those two manning the interior defensive line.
