5. Jerome Ford can make an impact

When the Browns selected Jerome Ford out of Cincinnati, he was immediately compared to Kareem Hunt. Cleveland has had the luxury of turning to Hunt as their No. 2 back even though he would easily be a starter on more than a dozen NFL teams.

Now in the final year of his contract, Hunt might be gone by this time next year. General manager Andrew Berry had no intention of waiting for him to leave to find that new change of pace back and after watching Ford in just one preseason game, it looks as though he might have found him.

Ford led the Cleveland offense in both rushing and receiving yards on the night. He got the offense rolling with a 41-yard run in the second quarter, then capped that drive off with a touchdown. He finished with 57 yards on 10 carries.

Through the air, he hauled in four of five pass targets for 45 yards and had another touchdown as well — scoring the only two offensive touchdowns of the night for the Browns.

Of course, expectations need to be tempered since Ford did this against reserves. He also showed at times that he was slow to make a decision, but when he just reacted and trusted his blocks, it was clear that he has the talent to make an impact.
