Player No. 2 Joshua Dobbs, QB

Josh Dobbs has been fantastic this preseason, leading the Browns to five scoring drives in all. In this latest game, he got them on the board with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, hiting tight end Miller Forristall in the corner of the end zone.

The Browns decided to attempt a two-point conversion and that’s when Dobbs displayed his athletic abilities again. He was pressured on the play but was able to dance around the defense and sprint to the left and jumped into the end zone for the score.

It’s that type of skill set that many fans are excited about and why Dobbs will be a dependable backup quarterback for now as the regular season begins.

After watching Jacoby Brissett quarterback the team to start the game and not move them until the closing minutes of the first half, Dobbs’ inspiring play got the team and fans at the stadium back in the game.

There are whispers of a quarterback controversy after this last game, but to be fair to Brissett, he was going up against many of the Bears starters on defense and Dobbs was playing against the second and third teamers of Chicago.

We’ll wait and see what the Browns do with their quarterback room if anything before the season begins. One question is whether or not Josh Rosen makes the final roster? He stepped in at the very close of the game and made some nice throws as well. I’ve suggested in the past that Rosen would be released later this week, so we’ll see.
