Player No. 1 Cade York, K

The talk of the town before the game was Cade York and how he was punching field goals out from 70 yards at First Energy Stadium during pregame warmups. My argument against giving York the keys to the car so soon was that much of what we’ve witnessed to this point has been happening in practices.

There’s a big difference between that and a real game. So, when York got his first attempt in the game at knocking a field goal in from 58 yards out, he failed in front of the home crowd.

He did however turn that mistake around soon after when he nailed his next attempt from 57 yards out and then a lesser field of 46 yards out later in the game.

There has been too much hype, in my opinion, on this youngster from LSU to this point. He hasn’t had anyone competing against him this offseason and fans are expecting a superhero already.

Hopefully, the hype can take hold as reality sooner than later but it’s a ton of pressure to put on a young player. Kickers in Cleveland have had a hard time sticking around.

Now the team gets set for the season opener against the Carolina Panthers. The main offensive threats will return with Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and Amari Cooper so hopefully Jacoby Brissett will get this team to move the chains a lot sooner than we saw in this last game.
