10 players the Browns should bring back to the practice squad
Practice squad candidates No. 7, 8: Dakota Allen, Jovante Moffatt
Jovante Moffatt has been in this exact same position before. Moffatt has shown flashes of being an NFL-caliber safety, but he keeps finding himself on the outside of the roster looking in. This time around, Moffatt was beaten out by undrafted rookie D’Anthony Bell for the final spot in the safety room.
Moffatt had a solid preseason, and there’s definitely something that the Browns see in the safety that keeps getting him shots with the team. Just as he was last season, expect the Browns to sign Moffatt back to the practice squad should he clear waivers. He would be a solid addition and someone that could see time on the field in the event of an injury.
The linebacker room was very competitive this preseason, and Dakota Allen was considered on the fringe of making the roster heading into the final preseason game. Allen was excellent against the run racking up 13 total tackles through the first two preseason games. But Allen was surpassed by Jordan Kunaszyk in the final game of the preseason.
Allen will now be subjected to waivers, but if he clears the Browns should try and sign him to their practice squad. However, Allen’s preseason tape could very well land him on an NFL roster come noon on Wednesday.
