3 potential moves by Cleveland Browns after initial 53-man roster

No. 1: Trade a running back
As we just mentioned the five running backs on the current roster are a huge plus for Cleveland and it’s likely a powerful selling point to other NFL squads lacking a reliable running game. Maybe the Browns can make a trade with a team like the Houston Texans again and get a wide receiver like Nico Collins or Phillip Dorsett.
Collins, a tall wideout at 6-4 is coming into his second year after he had a nice rookie campaign, grabbing 33 passes for 446 yards. Dorsett is a more experienced veteran who once played for the Indianapolis Colts. He’s never had a spectacular season but has shown some talent and good skills going into his eighth season.
The Texans are desperate at running back and trading them a player such as D’Ernest Johnson might be a good move for both clubs.
There are also teams like the New York Giants who have a couple of players that have been rumored to be on the trading block. That includes wide receiver Darius Slayton. He’s had a pretty steady career so far, though his numbers did dip some last season. He’s collected 124 catches for 1,830 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Browns could potentially offer a few draft picks for Slayton or even include Johnson in the trade.
The Giants have running back Saquon Barkley but he’s going into the season on the last year of his contract. Cleveland needs that help at wide receiver and Johnson would be in a better position to get more playing time.
Look for Cleveland to be very busy with more moves to come. Hopefully, the team considers some of these types of moves as they prepare for the regular season that is only a week away.
