Week 17, Jan. 1: Cleveland Browns at Washington Commanders

After their loss to the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland hits the road for their final two games of the season. First up, is a matchup with the Washington Commanders, led by Carson Wentz. There was a time when Wentz looked to be one of the better young passers in the game, but he fell off the map in a hurry.

Now on his third team in as many seasons, he’s going to struggle to close out games — and the Browns have the type of defense that can get under his skin in a hurry. A couple of sacks by Myles Garrett and an interception from Denzel Ward keep Washington from making it a contest as Cleveland gets the bad taste from the Christmas Eve loss out of their mouths with a New Year’s Day win.

Prediction: Cleveland 37, Washington 20

Week 18, Jan. 8: Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

The final game of the year for Cleveland happens to be in Pittsburgh, and this time, they’re prepared. Watson is a superior passer to whoever is starting for the Steelers at this point and he makes it 3-0 against AFC North opponents.

With an overall record of 10-7, Cleveland would have a real shot at making the playoffs. It won’t be easy with so many contenders in the AFC, but even having a winning season following the offseason of turmoil would feel like a win.

Prediction: Cleveland 33, Pittsburgh 14

Record in January: 2-0
Overall Record: 10-7
