3. Martin Emerson records first pick

It was a bit surprising at first when the Browns took Martin Emerson, Jr. as their first selection in the 2022 NFL Draft — after trading out of Round 2. Cornerback didn’t seem like a major need with Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, and Greedy Williams all under contract but by Week 1, Emerson was on the field a lot.

Williams, who has struggled with durability, was placed on the IR ahead of their opening game in Carolina which put Emerson in his role as the third corner. In his debut, Emerson did have one penalty for getting too physical but finished with five tackles on the day and proved he won’t shy away from NFL talent.

Of course, he already showed that he has no fear in the preseason when he made his debut and ripped the ball out of a receiver’s hand, and then ran it in for a touchdown of his own.

This third bold prediction is that Emerson finds another opportunity to make a play on the ball and doesn’t disappoint. New York is likely starting Joe Flacco in place of an injured Zach Wilson once again and the veteran signal-caller has always been willing to throw the ball into coverage, which will allow Emerson to record the first regular season pick of his career.
