The Cleveland Browns defense fell apart in Week 2 but these offensive players shined in the loss to the New York Jets at First Energy Stadium.

The Cleveland Browns offense did enough to win the game Sunday against the Jets when they scored 30 points despite starting their backup quarterback. Anytime you score 30 or more points in the NFL you should expect to win most of those games. Cleveland imploded on defense and special teams and let it slip away.

Let’s look at three offensive players that shined and still deserve credit for how they played on Sunday.

No. 3: Jacoby Brissett, quarterback

In the Browns’ Week, 1 win against the Panthers Jacoby Brissett did just enough to get the win with the help of the running game and special teams. This week, it was a completely different story when it seemed like Brissett was a different player. He looked confident and seemed to trust both his offensive line and his receivers.

He did a great job extending plays with his legs while keeping his eyes downfield looking for a target to come open. Brissett wasn’t afraid to take off and pick up yards with his legs either if he wasn’t able to find a target quick enough.

Though he still needs to do this on a consistent basis it was really nice to see him put a game together like this. Hopefully, there are more games like this but Brissett did more than enough for the Browns to win.

No. 2: Amari Cooper, wide receiver

That stat line for Amari Cooper in Week 1 against the Panthers was one that would lead you to believe he didn’t play well. That wasn’t the case as he routinely beat his man in coverage all day and the quarterback couldn’t get the ball to him consistently or accurately.

That changed this week when Cooper proved he is still a number one wide receiver in this league catching nine of his 10 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown. While doing that he made it look easy at times to create large amounts of separation with his smooth route running. Cooper remains one of the best route runners in the league and Sunday it was on full display.

In Week 2 prior to Monday Night Football, Cooper had the second highest receiving grade in the league according to PFF. Cooper took some fire from fans after Week 1 asking if he really could lead this group of unproven wide receivers.

If the Browns continue to get this level of play from Cooper the team’s passing attack with Jacoby Brissett will be just fine complimenting the running game.

No. 1: Nick Chubb, running back

Sunday was just another day at the office for running back Nick Chubb who continues to make playing the position look easy. After 141 yards rushing in Week 1 against the Panthers he followed it up with 17 carries for 87 yards and three touchdowns against the Jets. Chubb averaged over five yards a carry yet again something that he has done over the course of his career.

When you look at the yardage total of 87 yards you might not be that impressed but it was the way he got those yards that were impressive. It doesn’t matter if you stack the box against him he will find a running lane to get positive yards play after play. He will slam into the defense to wear them out and break one later in the game.

For Browns fans, the things that Chubb does on a weekly basis are just commonplace and a lot of fans just expect him to be great each week. Chubb is truly a talented and special player and everyone watching should enjoy every second of this great player doing great things for the Browns.
