3. Kadarius Toney, New York Giants

It’s not often a player goes from Round 1 pick to the dog house in just one year, but that’s the case with Kadarius Toney. Taken by Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge in 2021, Toney hasn’t endeared himself to the new regime as Brian Daboll has had other plans.

Toney didn’t play in Week 3 but was a non-factor in the first two games of the season. He had 23 yards rushing against the Tennessee Titans in the opener and followed that up with two catches for zero yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.

The lack of use isn’t a shock to anyone who has been paying attention to New York since they switched out their front office. All offseason, there were rumors that Toney was on the trade block but nothing ever came to fruition.

While it’s not as if he’s suddenly going to make good on his draft status, a fresh start could be what he needs to at least become a productive player. For Cleveland, it would be worth the gamble since he has elite speed that could be a benefit, not to mention his talent as a return man.

Toney had very little experience as a receiver at Florida and might simply need time to develop his raw talent. If so, he could end up being another steal for Andrew Berry.
