No. 2: Cade York Nails a 58-Yard Game-Winner

For the past nine or so years, the Browns have been in dire need of a field goal kicker and seemed to have finally found one. Fourth-round pick Cade York has lived up to the hype for the most part and Cleveland should be happy with the rook.

In the same game that Garrett brought down Mayfield on back-to-back plays, York was able to launch a 58-yard game-winning field goal to give the Browns their first opening week victory since 2004. The vibe around York was on a high level.

Cleveland has been in search of a consistent — and permanent —kicker since the 2013 season. York stepped up in his first professional game to kick Cleveland to a victory and could potentially end their search.

The Browns were ridiculed and mocked when they drafted York in the fourth round, the highest a kicker had been drafted since 2016, but got the last laugh, at least in Week 1.

York has gone on to be perfect on field goal attempts, going an unblemished 8-for-8. He did miss an extra point attempt in back-to-back weeks following the game-winner, but that’s bound to happen. York seems to have shaken the early season misses and the Browns should feel good about that.
