The Cleveland Browns added Deion Jones to help shore up their defense but if they really want to fix things, they can add one of these three defenders

It was a bit of a surprise when news broke late Friday night that the Cleveland Browns added Deion Jones in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, but it was a welcome surprise.

Cleveland’s defense has been gashed in recent weeks, especially on the ground, which is why it was a smart move by general manager Andrew Berry to bring Jones in. It also proves they’re not ready to look ahead to 2023 despite the 2-3 start.

Knowing they need between five and six wins to stay alive for when Deshaun Watson returns in Week 13, Berry is willing to make some moves. Here, we look at three more players he should consider in an effort to continue that re-tooling.

3. Maliek Collins, DT, Houston Texans

Far from a household name, Maliek Collins was a former third-round pick from Nebraska who has put together a decent career over the past seven seasons. Following four years in Dallas, Collins went to the Las Vegas Raiders for one season before joining the Houston Texans in 2020.

He’s started 19 games for the Texans and has 37 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 310-pounds, Collins is better at rushing the quarterback from the interior but he’s not a slouch against the run — which the Browns need help with.

Despite being a starter, the Texans might be willing to make a move since they’re not exactly going anywhere and could use a little more draft capital as they continue their rebuild.
