This offseason, the Browns hoped they had found themselves a third pass rusher in Chase Winovich. The former New England Patriots linebacker had 11 sacks in his first two seasons in the NFL before slowing down in 2021.

A change of scenery was expected to produce results but so far, he’s been unheard from. Winovich has yet to make his debut due to a hamstring injury. It was bad enough to put him on the IR and after Week 5, he’s still nowhere to be seen.

Cleveland has since turned to rookie Alex Wright, who has even had to make a couple of starts with Jadeveon Clowney and Myles Garrett dealing with injuries of their own. While they do have high hopes for Wright, he was more of a projection pick that needed time to develop.

For that reason, the Browns could look to add some more experienced help. One option might be K’Lavon Chaisson of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Chaisson was a former 20th overall selection out of LSU but has yet to break out in the NFL.

He had 50 tackles and two sacks in his first season with the Jags but so far in 2022, he’s been behind No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker — while also dealing with injuries of his own. Adding him could be a risk due to the durability but this wasn’t a problem before 2022. In the end, it could be a good way to get a Round 1 talent on the cheap.
