No. 2 – Grand Delpit

Before I start talking about the disappointing first half of the year Grant Delpit has had, I must clarify that his last game vs. the Bengals was likely the best of the season. He was often set in the two-high look with Woods allowing him to roam the middle of the field for crossers and he stepped up well in run-support too.

Unfortunately, for most of the first half of this season Delpit has struggled. There have been times when effort has been inconsistent, and he too has often been a part of the entire secondary communication struggle that is another point entirely.

Delpit is a third-year guy but has only one full year of experience. A season-ending injury as a rookie slowed his development, but there is some hope that he could really turn the page. The Joe Woods system is built around a guy like Delpit who has the ability to play all over the field.

Had Delpit not stayed at LSU for their Championship run, he likely would have been a top-15 pick in the 2019 draft. Instead, he lingered into Round 2 in 2020 and has had a chip on his shoulder since. Many expected a monster year for Delpit which could still happen, we just haven’t seen that yet.
