Player No. 2 – Tommy Togiai

Even though Tommy Togiai has had one less year to develop compared to Jordan Elliott, I still see Berry getting rid of the former Buckeye. When the Cleveland Browns drafted him they knew they were getting a guy that was more of a pass rusher than a run defender, but he has been below average at both aspects in the NFL.

Togiai is undersized and it becomes clear his lack of strength will always hold him back at this level. Athletic guards have no issues getting in position to wall him off, and powerful guards have the ability to drive him off the ball with zero issues.

The release of Togiai won’t save the Browns a ton of money, but this is a position where they will basically be starting from scratch. I don’t see another contract for Taven Bryan, and Perrion Winfrey continues to be in the doghouse with coaches.

Defensive tackle has to be a position that is addressed in the draft or free agency next year.  Because it is a position that is typically cheaper, look for Berry to bring in a fairly big name to fill a huge void. After two seasons of not worrying about the interior defensive line and continuing to get torched by average running backs, it’s time to fix the issue.
