Free Agent No. 1 – William Gholston, DE

Another name that jumps out at me is William Gholston, who will very likely be looking for a new home in 2023. The 10-year veteran has spent every season in Tampa Bay so far, but production was not there in 2022 as he ended the year with zero sacks.

I don’t love the addition of Gholston to the Cleveland Browns to make him the secondary pass rusher to Myles Garrett, but I do like him as a backup piece and to help mentor Alex Wright who has shown a lot of potential.

In 10 years, Gholston has only accrued 19.5 sacks, but at 281 pounds he is very good against the run which is an area where the Browns desperately need help, especially if Jadeveon Clowney leaves — which is fully expected.

This is another type of singing by Berry that won’t knock the socks off fans, but I think would be a perfect fit for the Browns defense. Remember, Jim Schwartz loves to move guys around, so you could see a guy the size of Gholston even play the interior defensive line at times.

With such a history in Tampa, maybe they do bring him back and he never even hits the market.  But this roster has been glued together for the last three years without a ton of financial responsibility to keep Brady happy and give the team a chance to win the Super Bowl.
