Once again, the Cleveland Browns won't be making a selection in Round 1 or 2 of the NFL Draft — barring any unforseen trade that is. They're without a day-one pick due to the Deshaun Watson trade and their recent move to add Elijah Moore had them swapping the No. 42 pick for the 74th selection in Round 3.
As they proved with Martin Emerson in 2022, they can still find an impact player in that round. With that being the case, here's a look at four possible additions at No. 74 that would fit perfectly in Cleveland.
Cleveland Browns draft option No. 4: Jammie Robinson, S, Florida State
With Juan Thornhill signed, the Browns finally have the centerfield safety their defense has been lacking. His presence will also allow Grant Delpit to move around the defense more, which will be a plus for him — especially after his string finish to the 2022 campaign.
The only concern now is depth, since there aren't a lot of options behind their starters. That's why someone such as Jammie Robinson could be on the radar when the Browns are on the clock at No. 74.
Talked to Senior Bowl Exec Director Jim Nagy. Told me FSU DB Jammie Robinson reminds him of Texans DB Jalen Pitre. He's feisty! Plenty plays lining up in the box in addition to blitzing from safety post. A couple missed tackles, but very instinctive. Senior Bowl

Robinson began his career at South Carolina but took off in 2021 when he transferred to Florida State. That year, he had 84 tackles with four picks and recorded seven tackles for a loss. He put up another strong campaign in 2022 and continued to showcase his versatility as he lined up at both safety spots as well as playing a hybrid linebacker role.
Picking him up would give them some needed depth and it's always best to have a safety that can fill multiple roles behind the starters.
Cleveland Browns draft option No. 3: Nick Herbig, EDGE, Wisconsin
With Ogbo Okoronkwo ready to pair up with Myles Garrett and cause problems for opposing offensive lines, the Browns look pretty good on the edge. Despite this, there are rumors they could look for another player, with Frank Clark being named as a target.
Even if they did add another veteran, you can never have too many pass rushers. And right now, Cleveland could still use more since the depth is concerning behind Garrett and Okoronkwo.
The front office does have high hopes for Alex Wright, who was a third-round pick from UAB last season but he has yet to record a sack in the NFL. He could be a solid player in time but refusing to add players before he proves himself would be a mistake.
That's why Nick Herbig from Wisconsin would be an ideal fit at No. 74. A 3-4 outside linebacker while with the Badgers, Herbig would be asked to move to the defensive line in Cleveland but they've had no issues making such moves in the past. For instance, Olivier Vernon, Jadeveon Clowney, Chase Winovich, and even Okoronkwo have been 3-4 pass rushers before landing in Cleveland.

While there will still be concerns about his size, Herbig was constantly making splash plays, with 26 percent of his tackles going for a loss of yards. He might not ever be able to develop into a full-time starter at defensive end but he would be quite the third-down specialist — which is what they were hoping to get from Winovich a season ago.
Cleveland Browns draft option No. 2: Trey Palmer, WR, Nebraska
One thing is for sure when it comes to the Cleveland Browns receiving corps, they're going to have more speed in 2023.
Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski haven't been shy about wanting to find players capable of stretching the field. That's why they were willing to roll the dice on Anthony Schwartz in 2021. That's also why they were willing to drop from No. 42 to 74 in this upcoming draft in order to bring in Elijah Moore.
They didn't stop with Moore either as they decided to sign veteran Marquise Goodwin, a former track star, to a one-year deal. Goodwin is clearly there to either push Schwartz, or take his job completely in 2023. However, the Browns will still want someone to take the "burner" role beyond this season and that's clearly not Goodwin who is in his early 30s.
This is why it should surprise no one if they do use one of their earlier picks on another wide receiver and Trey Palmer might be the perfect fit.

Palmer began his career at LSU but hardly saw the field until he headed to Nebraska this past season. He then went off with 71 receptions for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns.
He's still considered raw but has incredible traits, including his speed which he showed off while running a 4.33 time in the 40-yard dash. He could easily replace what they've gotten from Schwartz to this point while offering much more upside down the road.
Cleveland Browns draft option No. 1: Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
With the addition of Dalvin Tomlinson, the Browns likely feel comfortable with their defensive tackle rotation. He will occupy one spot and a rotation with Perrion Winfrey, Jordan Elliott, and Trysten Hill can take care of the other. Maurice Hurst is there as well but given his injury history, it's probably best not to rely too heavily on him and count any production he gives as a bonus.
This should give them a better rotation than they had in 2022 and the addition of Jim Schwartz as the defensive coordinator will also help. But that doesn't mean they can't still get better, especially if they were to land Keeanu Benton from Wisconsin.
At 6-foot-4 and 309 pounds, Benton is a massive player who excels as a 1-tech, which Cleveland can still use. Tomlinson is capable of playing this role, as is Trysten Hill, but each has had more success as the 3-tech. Tomlinson, for example, just had the best two-year stretch of his career with Minnesota occupying that spot.
Adding Benton, who was a beast at the Senior Bowl, would give them a defensive front that would be nearly impossible to move on early downs. They can then give way to players such as Winfrey and Hill, who have been better pass rushers.

This would be a welcome change to what we saw in 2022. Instead of trying to figure out how to stop the run on third-and-short, they would be able to force some obvious passing situations. That's when Myles Garrett, Ogbo Okoronkwo, and Perrion Winfrey can really do some damage.
With Benton, the only question is whether or not he lasts until No. 74. If so, he would be the perfect selection to round out Cleveland's front line.
