Browns coaching search: Gus Malzahn addresses NFL rumors

Auburn head coach has been busy preparing for the Florida State Seminoles in the National Championship, so it is not surprising he has not responded to rumors about the Cleveland Browns to this point.  that changed today when asked about the NFL.

In a non-deniel, denial, Malzahn did not say ‘no’.  He did say he is happy at Auburn though.  It is unclear just how legitimate the interest the Browns reported interest is at this point as rumors are flying all over the place.

Malzahn has also been linked to the University of Texas and at one point there were reports that said that was his dream job.  Auburn gave him a nice pay raise and that seemed to end that for the moment.

Malzahn’s rise in the coaching ranks has been nothing short of meteoric after he was the offensive coordinator foe Auburn’s National Title team with Cam Newton, going to Arkansas State for a year and then leading Auburn to the National Championship this season.

I don’t know, Peter what’s your take on these college coaches the Browns are looking at? Some sound better than, say McDaniels? The Browns haven’t had much luck going either way!!

When it comes to Malzahn, there is a presence about the guy. Missouri, on paper, should have beaten Auburn. Matchups really favored them heavily. You saw Alabama. And when I’m thinking about the pick for National Title game, I am picking FSU, but with a team that has disadvantages at basically everywhere except left tackle, I still think Malzahn can keep it close. In that respect, he’s a terrific coach. Hard to ignore that part of it.

Gus is interesting and full of surprises!! I don’t think Stoops will leave Oklahoma, I would be very surprised if he does?! I have a lot of respect for Franklin, for what he’s done at Vandy!
