According to reports, Todd Bowles (pictured here from his time with the Philadelphia Eagles) has taken his name out of consideration for the head coaching job of the Cleveland Browns.  Bowles, currently the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals was one of the first interviews the Browns had in this search.

It is unclear if Bowles took his name out despite being a legitimate candidate or was preemptive and took his name out of a job he was not really going to get.  This gives critics of the search fodder to say this is a mess and no one wants the job in a meaningless argument. The only part that really matters is that Bowles is not going to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are expected to wait until they get a chance to interview Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase until they finally come to a decision, which is waiting on the Bronco playoff run to end.  There are only two teams without a head coach at this point; the Browns and Minnesota Vikings.

I think if the Browns had felt strongly about Bowles, or any other candidate they’ve interviewed so far, they would be our HC. This is news but it’s not NEWS.

Bowles was just a Rooney rule compliance interview. It’s actually quite sad that the Browns haven’t interviewed any other black candidates. Haslam is a good ole boy from TN.

    • Sam Gold

Haslam has black members on Pilot’s board of directors as well as some of Pilot’s highest level executives. You seriously think he would sacrifice finding the most qualified HC candidate because of the color of that candidates skin? In the broadest sense of the definition of racism your comment is more obviously racist than anything Haslam has shown.

Since I doubt you have any more working knowledge of the executive racial Makeup of the Pilot Flying J corporation than anyone else in NE Ohio the only response I will make to you is Have a Nice day.

You should check out this thing called the internet. It avails one of of all kinds of readily verifiable information regardless of one’s geographic location. Mine, ironically, is not NE Ohio. I hope you have a nice day as well.

Ah yes the wonderful internet. The place where you can claim to have knowledge of information and then cite it’s entirety as your source.

You are quite adept at the straw man argument.
