Cleveland’s Inactive List: Browns VS. Bears

The Cleveland Browns face off with the Chicago Bears. In some respects this is more like the Junior Varsity (JV) game before the “real” team takes the field in Week 1. The Browns VS. Bears will likely see more healthy scratches from the Bears side of the field while the Browns Inactive List are significant but actually injured players:

Againt the Browns will be without 4 of their top 5 cornerbacks. That will means that the Browns’ top pick Justin Gilbert will get a ton of work when on the field while Leon McFadden, seemingly fighting to make the team, will likely start as well. Bryant and Skrine are coming off surgeries with Skrine likely for Week 1 and Bryant far more questionable. One active player, that needs to have a decent showing to make a case to make the team is Nate Burleson:

Burleson is in a fight with a bunch of young players including Taylor Gabriel, Willie Snead, Marlon Moore and Charles Johnson to make the roster behind current starters Andrew Hawkins and Miles Austin. The Browns will likely cycle through receivers this year like they did running backs last year. Hopefully a few of them will be able to stick and make a big impact on the team.

Following tonight’s game the Browns will have a lot of decisions to make, not only at receiver, but with their unique depth on the defensive line. Could a lineman be traded for a receiver? Could the Browns cut some players we don’t expect and keep some from off the radar?

Following along tonight as we cover the last Pre-Season game before an interesting regular season.
