Paul Kruger of the Cleveland Browns has done a great job of making his money this season. Many thought Kruger was overpaid last season when the Browns brought him in. This year he has changed many people’s mind. He has been great against the run and has put good pressure on the QB.

In this play against the Atlanta Falcons he rushed inside, got blocked to the ground before getting back up and getting the 10 yard sack:

It was as if Matt Ryan expected Kruger to just stay down. Kruger hopped to his feet and got ahold of Ryan and did not let go.

When GM Ray Farmer and HC Mike Pettine talks about “Playing like a Brown” this is one play that will likely be used as an example.

The Browns are fighting with the Falcons in a game that is meaningful for both teams. At the moment of this sack the Browns were up 2. The sack forced the Falcons to punt and the ensuing drive was a Browns touchdown.

Paul Kruger has made his contract seem like a great decision. The Browns could have a tough decision next year as Kruger has a rather large contract but with plays like this he will likely be a round.
