Isaiah Crowell Expected to Play Today (Hip)

The Cleveland Browns expect Isaiah Crowell to play today even though he has been limited this week in practice. Crowell’s hip has been giving him problems since last week’s game and his availability is questionable. Ian Rapoport is reporting the team expects him to play:

Crowell has been the Browns starting running back for the past few weeks even though he hasn’t gotten more than 17 carries in any of those games. Last week was his highest carries, and lowest yardage, since not getting any reps against Tampa Bay, November 2nd. After a breakout game against the Falcons, 12 carries for 88 yards, his 17 carries against the Bills only netted 29 yards.

As Rapoport noted the Browns will continue to ride whatever back is playing well. Terrance West has had his moments but he also had the game changing fumble last week. Meanwhile Glenn Winston could see his first carries in the NFL. He is a powerful rookie back who could help puncture holes in the Colts defensive front.

The Browns also picked up Shaun Draughn this week, he took Miles Austin‘s roster spot when the receiver went on the IR for the year. Draughn is in his second season out of North Carolina and saw some action with the San Diego Chargers earlier this season. His 10 carries against the New York Jets didn’t result in much, 19 yards, but they came as the Chargers were just trying to run out the clock.

For now expect The Crow to get the start but for West to try to make up for his poor showing last week and Winston to get at least a couple of carries.
