Report: TE Jordan Cameron Still a Browns Option

With Free Agency in full swing around the league and player being signed like clock work one position seems to be very active, and has eluded the Cleveland Browns thus far, tight end. Jordan Cameron has been the team’s starter for years.

Several players believed to have been possible targets of the Browns at the tight end position have been signed to include, Virgil Green (Broncos) and Ed Dickson (Panthers). The Cleveland Browns have been linked to Jermaine Gresham, and Charles Clay,  but according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer there is still another player left out there for the Browns to target and that is none other than Jordan Cameron.

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports had reported earlier in the week that several teams were interested in Cameron to include the Browns, Raiders, Broncos, Seahawks and Jaguars. Most of these teams signed tight ends right out of the gate or made trades to acquire talent at the tight end position. The Jags signed Julius Thomas at the start of free agency, and the Seahawks made a blockbuster trade sending center Max Unger and the 31st pick in the 2015 draft to the New Orleans Saints for Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham and a fourth-round draft pick.

The Broncos as I stated earlier signed Green, but are likely still in the market for a pass catching tight end, so that leaves the Browns, Raiders and Broncos still searching for tight end help.

When the Browns elected not Franchise or Transition Tag Cameron, it seemed like the team and the player were ready for a split. Many pundits speculated that Cameron wants to return to the West Coast and be closer to his family and the atmosphere out West.

With the market starting to shrink for tight ends on the market the Browns are in a prime position to make one last push to re-sign Cameron, likely an incentive laden deal or even a 1-2 year deal to make good and consider a long-term contract. If the Browns fail to land Cameron they can make a strong run at Gresham or Clay, but personally I would like to see Cameron in a Browns uniform next year and see if he can get back to his Pro Bowl form from 2013 NFL Season.

Which of the 3 available pass catching tight ends would you like to see the Browns sign?
