Browns safety Tashaun Gipson out for Sunday’s game

Cleveland Browns safety Tashaun Gipson has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with Baltimore due to an ankle injury.
In his place the Browns will turn to Jordan Poyer.

“(Jordan’s) gotten a lot of reps with Tashaun Gipson not being here in the offseason,” head coach Mike Pettine said. “I thought that was helpful and times when we rest Donte Whitner, so he’s gotten a lot of work with the ones. He prides himself on his preparation. When he’s focused, dialed in, he does a good job for us. I’m expecting him in the role that we have for him to play well.”
The defense is taking plenty of hits, as in addition to Gipson linebacker Craig Robertson will also miss Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. In addition, defensive lineman Desmond Bryant (shoulder), linebacker Karlos Dansby (ankle) and cornerback Joe Haden (ribs/finger) are all listed as questionable.
“I’m going to talk to Joe tomorrow and just see how he wants to handle it,” Pettine said. “He’s a week away from it so I don’t know if we’ll need to go all the way to Sunday. We might have a better idea tomorrow based on how he handled it today. I know a couple of balls came his way today, and he handled them so we’ll see what the result, how he feels.”

Probable: Johnson Bademosi (elbow), Duke Johnson (ankle), Johnny Manziel (elbow), Mitchell Schwartz (probable), Donte Whitner (illness) and K’Waun Williams (concussion). Questionable: Desmond Bryant (shoulder), Karlos Dansby (ankle), Joe Haden (ribs/finger), Brian Hartline (ribs/thigh), Scott Solomon (ankle) and Robert Turbin (ankle). Doubtful: Shaun Draughn (back). Out: Tashaun Gipson (ankle) and Craig Robertson (ankle).
For the Ravens:
Out: Chris Canty (calf), Crockett Gillmore (calf) and Breshad Perriman (knee). Probable: Albert McClellan (abdomen), Eugene Monroe (concussion), Marshal Yanda (ankle), Lorenzo Taliaferro (foot) and Daryl Smith (not injury related). Doubtful: Steve Smith (back).
Probable = virtual certainty player will be available for normal duties. Questionable = 50% chance player will not play; Doubtful = at least 75% chance player will not play; Out = will not play.
