Corey Coleman would immediately be expected to be the Browns’ No. 1 wide receiver, as the team currently holds no expectations for Josh Gordon. Their leading returning wide receiver is Brian Hartline, who has a sure pair of hands but does not add much dynamism to the offense.

Head coach Hue Jackson has stated the importance of having a legitimate vertical threat and early on this is where Coleman would be expected to win in the NFL. Jackson likes to attack down the field and stress a defense vertically, and Coleman’s lightning quickness and experience in Baylor’s system as a deep route runner make him an easy fit for this role.

Coleman’s athleticism also offers the Browns some versatility. As well as having the outright speed to play on the outside, he is a player with whose extreme sudden speed would allow him to line up in the slot. He even occasionally lined up at running back for Baylor and scored a rushing touchdown in 2014.

He would also be an immediate help as a returner. As well as being their leading wide receiver, Travis Benjamin was one of the best returners in the NFL with the Browns. Coleman’s incredible agility and speed should allow him to have a similar impact as a returner at the next level.
