The Cleveland Browns need to act fast if they want to retain Terrelle Pryor, as the risk of him signing elsewhere increases every day.

Terrelle Pryor had a breakout season for the Cleveland Browns in 2016, which made re-signing him seem like an easy decision. But it is March 7 and Pryor remains unsigned by the Browns. And with the new league year set to begin in two days, the Browns are running out of time.

The Browns may be hesitant to offer Pryor a major deal after just one successful season, but the over $100 million in cap space allows the team to take a few chances. And after how well he played last year, it is hard to imagine a major drop-off, especially if a legitimate NFL quarterback is throwing him the ball all season.

If the Browns continue to wait, Pryor may decide he is going to take the money from a contending team instead of waiting for the Browns to come up with a respectable contract. It is basic business, and the front office seems to be overthinking this simple decision.

Letting Pryor go leaves the Browns with Corey Coleman as the only threat at receiver, followed by three second-year players who did nothing to impress in 2016. The team has already parted ways with Andrew Hawkins, so losing Pryor would just make the unit worse in 2017.

Fans do not know what conversations have been had between Pryor and the Browns, but it would be nice to see some progress on a deal before other teams begin throwing major money at Pryor. Let’s take a look at that and more in today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Tags.
