Offensive Line Maintains Depth

If you haven’t figured it out by now, the reason for the Browns‘ offensive success was thanks in large part to the outstanding offensive line.  Phil Savage knows where his bread his buttered and for maintaining the depth, he is certainly deserving of a new contract.  On Monday, he signed former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Rex Hadnot to a two-year deal.

On Tuesday – today – Lennie Friedman was signed to a one-year deal.  He is a versatile player, appearing in all 32 of his games with the Browns, spending time on the O-line and on special teams.

Everyone loves the flashy signings in free agency, but players like Hadnot and Friedman offer invaluable help.  The NFL is one of the riskiest sports, as any player can go down with a serious injury at any time.  Fragility is all too common among many players and, not knowing when it will strike one’s team, it is smart to keep adding depth to the most important unit of all.
