CB Daven Holly Possibly Out For Season
On Tuesday, in attempting to break up a pass intended for Braylon Edwards, cornerback Daven Holly managed to land awkwardly and, for all intents and purposes, tear the hell out of his knee. He sustained ligament and cartilage damage and is set to undergo surgery as early as Friday.
With Holly out of action, possibly for the entire 2008 season, the Browns at least know that Brandon McDonald will be starting alongside Eric Wright. After ruling out high-priced options such as Ty Law and Lito Sheppard, the Browns will begin searching elsewhere for a replacement.
A guy like Sheppard is “out of their price range,” but the cornerback position was not exactly deep to start with. Easily the weakest aspect of the defense, GM Phil Savage should consider making a move that would really go a long way in solidifying the cornerback position.
So, I wonder how Leigh Bodden is doing…
