Browns Trade DL Corey Williams to Lions; LB Scott Fujita to Meet with Team
The Browns have been one of the most active teams in the short period that the free agency period has been open, which is a good sign. First, the team traded defensive lineman Corey Williams to the Detroit Lions, since he was so desperate to leave the 3-4 defensive scheme and go back to his old friend, the 4-3, even if it meant going to the Lions. But hey, Detroit did just sign Kyle Vanden Bosch. The Browns will receive a late-round draft pick in the deal.
In other, and better, news, the Browns have also scheduled a visit with free agent linebacker Scott Fujita, formerly of the New Orleans Saints. Though he played outside linebacker in the 4-3 in New Orleans, he could be moved inside with the Browns. I’m not sure what kind of influence that might have on his decision to sign in Cleveland, but it will be interesting to see how the revamped front office handles its first big free agent.
