Browns Close to Landing Eagles

facebooktwitterreddit

Per Cleveland.com, the Browns and Eagles are close to reaching an agreement which would send CB Sheldon Brown and LB Chris Gocong to the Erie Shore. The deal would see the Browns send a combination of draft picks or picks and a back up to Philadelphia. It is contingent on the Browns and Sheldon  Brown reaching an agreement on a new deal, Brown has been unhappy with the Eagles for nearly a year and demanded a trade last April.

Last season Brown set a career high in interception with 5, including one that went for a touchdown. He also had a fumble recovery go the distance too.

Gocong, has been an on and off starter at OLB the past three seasons but lost his starting gig to rookie Moise Fokou. It is assumed that Gocong, who was recently resigned to a one year deal, would play ILB for the Browns.

If this trade is finalized it would most definitely help the Browns in the secondary with the addition on Brown to pair at CB along side Eric Wright. The deal could also hint towards the Browns would no longer considering Florida CB Joe Haden.

I for one am all for this trade, especially if it means we can upgrade our secondary, and still draft my man crush Eric Berry.

EDIT: As of 12:34 PM the deal has gone offical according to ESPN, the Browns will recieve both Sheldon Brown and Chris Gocong in exchange for LB Alex Hall and two picks the Browns 4th and a 5th.
